FAIRNESS DOCTRINE SUPPORTED BY NEW MEXICO SENATOR JEFF BINGAMAN

By: John Keitel

on October 21, 2008 New Mexico Senator Jeff Bingaman appeared on radio 770 KKOB Albuquerque with host Jim Vallanucci. They discussed the Fairness Doctrine. The Fairness Doctrine was dropped by the Regan Administration, talk radio has gone from 125 stations to over 2,000.

Now the Democratic Party wants to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine. That would mean that anyone who wants to challenge the radio station for equal time over political issues. This is want stiffeled free speech and the talk radio industry, the stations played mostly music. They simply did not want to deal with the hassle of minute for minute balance on a “talk” radio show.

Senators Diane Feinstein and Trent Lott debate the Fairness Doctrine. The bill would make talk radio show give equal time to opposing views. What happened to the 1st amendment!

Hannity conversation with Stephanie Miller, a leftist radio show host. We need fairness 90% of the talk radio shows are right wing. What about the New York Times, AP, all of the networks, and colleges that are leftist.
